Fellowship for International Trainees (Y/N):
We are open to having international fellows and have two fellowship opportunities

Endovascular Fellowship

We currently have a formal, ACGME accredited fellowship in which we accept 1 fellow/year. This formal fellowship program is 2 years long for neurosurgeons and is three years for those with a neurology or radiology background. We do accept international applications for this fellowship.

Here is a link to that program: http://www.neurology.umn.edu/fellowships-endovascular.html.

In addition to this formal fellowship we would be willing to consider training international vascular neurosurgeons who need endovascular training. This program is outside of the normal ACGME program and would only be considered for vascular neurosurgeons in need of endovascular training to perform vascular neurosurgery in their home country. The stipulation is that the trainee will return to their home country at the end of training and not intend to practice in the United States. To be eligible for this the candidate needs to be a practicing neurosurgeon, and have passed all USMLE and TOFL tests. In addition trainees must obtain their own funding for housing/living expenses and health care coverage. The length of this training is 2 years.

Neuroanatomy Fellowship

We currently have a formal neuroanatomy fellowship program which is approved by the university of minnesota GME office and board of directors. The length of this fellowship ranges from 6 months to 2 years as requested by the candidate. The intention is to provide fellows with neuroanatomic research opportunities in the neuroanatomy lab while also providing vascular/endovascular clinical observership. Pre requesits for this program are that applicants have completed residency or are in residency in neurosurgery, ENT, radiology or neurology. Applicants must find their own funding for housing/living expenses and health care coverage.
